Believing that Jesus called Christians to work toward the flourishing of all creation, we seek to bless our neighbors and the city we live in. To this end, we partner with a number of local nonprofit organizations.
A Place to Sleep
We participate in St. Vincent de Paul’s Overnight Parking Program, providing a safe space for a family to live in their trailer.
During the winter, we have been a site for the Egan Warming Center. That is currently on hold during the pandemic. Valley Covenant volunteers continue to support the warming center work at other sites and in other ways.
For a week each year, we serve at the Interfaith Night Shelter, which provides a place for families without homes to stay together rather than be split up into different shelters.
Aid
We regularly collect food and other items for Food for Lane County and the Eugene Mission as well as collecting donations for meals to aid families in need through local schools.
We participate in Project Hope, doing light maintenance work on a nearby public school during the School Work Day and helping kids get ready for school with a school supply giveaway at the Kids’ Fair.
We support Love for Lane County, a nonprofit organization that mobilizes church members to aid anyone in need with practical help and supportive relationships.
Most recently (Fall 2021), we are pledging 10% of a fund raising campaign for church building repairs to be donated to a couple of agencies which aid unhoused or housing insecure people.
Volunteering
Many of our members volunteer time, with some serving on boards, for community service organizations like the Eugene Mission, Dove Medical, Women’s Space, Love for Lane County, and a number of other groups which care for people in our community.
