The Evangelical Covenant Church
All Covenant churches are congregational in polity. So we are responsible for our local ministry and we make our own decisions about how our church operates. However, we are not an independent church. We are part of a denomination which has been working together for over 110 years to reach the world for Jesus Christ. Our ties to our sister churches are important to us.
There are more than seven hundred Covenant churches in the United States and Canada. The Evangelical Covenant Church was founded by Swedish immigrants in 1885. Every one of our churches is committed to welcoming all people into new life through Jesus Christ. We emphasize biblical faith expressed in a day to day walk with the Lord.
Our Covenant Offices are in Chicago, Illinois, at 5101 N. Francisco Ave. Our school, North Park University (a top-rated four-year college and a small but quality theological seminary), is also in Chicago.
Since we are located in Oregon, Valley Covenant is in the North Pacific Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Thus we share fellowship and mission with about 60 other Covenant churches in Oregon, Washington, and Montana. Our closest sister church is Trinity Covenant in Salem, Oregon. Our conference owns and operates Cascades Camp and Conference Center, a fantastic retreat site southeast of Olympia, Washington.
